Boys & Girls Clubs Families & Supporters,

Thank you for your patience and understanding over the past few weeks as BGCB has been navigating the COVID-19 health crisis. During this time, we worked with our board of directors, health professionals, the Bend La Pine School District, and other leaders in the community to figure out how to best serve our youth, families, and staff members. No part of this process has been simple or easy.

Following the announcement of statewide school closures through April 28, our board has made the decision to extend our Club closure through this date. This is subject to change and we will send out updates regarding closure and/or reopening dates as we gain more information.

Without being able to offer our usual services, we have temporarily laid off 15 part-time and 7 full-time employees. We have provided them with severance pay to help ease the transition to temporary unemployment and we have every hope of re-hiring them as soon as it is safe to resume programs. Their passion, dedication, and empathy for each other and our Club families during this time has been inspiring and humbling.

As a nonprofit whose mission is to serve those who need us most, we are committed to living out our values even during this temporary closure. Our Executive Director and Business Manager will maintain basic operations for the Club and provide resources to our community until we can re-open.

We are hosting a meal site in partnership with the Bend-La Pine School District at our East Bend location each weekday from 11am-12pm. We are also reaching out to our families enrolled in Family Plus to provide them with food boxes and gift cards.

We know this is a very challenging time for all of you. Please stay tuned to our Facebook page (@bgcbend) for updates. You can also email if you have any questions.

As the situation develops and more information is available, BGCB will continue to communicate updates through email, social media, and its website ( Facebook and Instagram at @bgcbend.
