Youth of the Year

Established in 1947, the Youth of the Year is BGCA's premier youth recognition program and the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive. Youth of the Year recognizes outstanding contributions to a Club member's family, school, community and Club, as well as overcoming personal challenges and obstacles.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend had five well-deserving teens compete at the local competition, and, after hearing from all of the teens, the judges selected Rowen as the 2019 Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend's Youth of the Year!

Rowen will receive a $5,000 college scholarship generously provided by PCC Schlosser. He will compete in the State competition in Portland with a chance to win an additional college scholarship. The winner of the State competition will then go on to compete at the Regional competition and eventually on to the National Youth of the Year competition!
