Youth of the Year

Established in 1947, the Youth of the Year is BGCA's premier youth recognition program and the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive. Youth of the Year recognizes outstanding contributions to a Club member's family, school, community and Club, as well as overcoming personal challenges and obstacles.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend had four well-deserving teens compete at the local competition, and, after hearing from all of the teens, the judges selected Malachi as the 2017 Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend's Youth of the Year!

Malachi will receive a $2,000 college scholarship from the local competition! In March, he will compete in the State competition in Salem with a chance to win a $5,000 college scholarship! The winner of the State competition will then go on to compete at the Regional competition and eventually on to the National Youth of the Year competition!
