FootZone, Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend Partner to Produce One Thanksgiving Day Event

BEND, Ore. – (September 26, 2017) FootZone and Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend (BGCB) are excited to announce their partnership in producing one Thanksgiving Day event, which benefits local non-profits. Both organizations have had great success putting on separate races in the past; the “Bend Thanksgiving Classic” produced by Boys & Girls Clubs of Bend and benefiting Girls on the Run of Central Oregon and the “I Like Pie” organized by FootZone and benefiting NeighborImpact. Both beneficiaries will continue to be the charitable recipients. BGCB and FootZone’s hope is to expand their Thanksgiving Day event offerings on a fun and safe course, while providing increased visibility for the race beneficiaries.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with FootZone and NeighborImpact! The Thanksgiving event is our end-of-season 5k for our fall GOTR participants, so I’m excited for our girls to be a part of this new collaboration as well,” said Girls on the Run’s Council Director Emily Usselman.

Teague Hatfield of FootZone said, "All of us at FootZone are excited to see the evolution of "I Like Pie.” This event is near and dear to us and we can't wait to see even more people gather on Thanksgiving Day to get moving and support both NeighborImpact AND Girls on the Run!"

The new “I Like Pie” will take place in the Old Mill District, with 5k and 10k timed and untimed courses, as well as a family friendly option. Participants are encouraged to bring a homemade pie to share and/or to enter into the pie contest. Early bird registration is now open. Paper registrations will be available soon at FootZone.
